I did 7 days of drinking Love Cleanse and Liver Detox on the recommendation of the guy at the counter who wasnt near as helpful as I was hoping (he was hot, though) but oh well, he said "I'm not a dietitian's" okay then work somewhere else than a freaking cleanse factory! but i just drank the juice mixes when i was hungry and felt kinda dumpy and irritable until day 4 and then i really started feeling good, really good!

Gonna try to go for 14 days at the end of Feb so I can be ready for SXSW.

I decided to take it up a notch this year and do a juice cleanse. Of course it was nice to have plate of food on the clean program, but several friends had done the blueprint cleanse as well and told me that they felt like their bodies had gotten more "detoxing" done with that one. So i did some research and found that JuiceLand offers even fresher juices than Blueprint and at a lot less cost. 10 days had dramatic effects. I was in a much better mood without coffee and felt extremely clear minded. I never struggled with hunger after the first day, it just felt like a natural fit to be only drinking juices. I had 3 yoga sessions near the end of my cleanse where i was literally flutterinmg with good energy and don't remember ever having felt like that before. My husband ate dinner in front of me every night but instead of feeling frustrated I felt like i had a secret that I wanted him in on. He has agreed to try a juice fast after seeing how effective and surprisingly easy it was for me. If you are considering it, then do yourself a favor and try a juice cleanse soon, I honestly think the world would be much better off if more people did.

I will say it was a lot easier to do than i imagined and with better results than i expected. i did what the JuiceLand peeps told me and just stopped eating foods one Monday morning in December and just drank as much fresh juice as I could. I found that when I drank juice, I didn't feel tired, cranky, or very weird at all. I did feel those things when I wasn't drinking the juice often enough, I'd be feeling bad and then realize I hadn't had a sip in hours-(duh). I liked the non sugary ones like unicorn blood and love cleanse, but also liked to indulge in a ninja bachelor party or an aphex twin. it didn't seem to matter what i drank as long as i drank something. each drink hit the spot and did the trick, the spot being the rumble in my stomach and then trick being fuel i needed energetically.

at the end of ten days i found i had accomplished more than i would have with my normal diet (both at work and at home if you know what i mean,) and was sleeping and feeling better than usual as well. i freaking worshipped every bite of food i took for days after i came off the cleanse and generally crave fresher foods than i did before, emphasis on just putting good stuff in my tank. will probably do this again soon as regular maintenance and also next time i have a big project at work, like i said i got a lot more done than i usually do. all in all awesome experience and i highly recommend it.

After a playful holiday season full of rich homemade egg nog, casserole, several muffins and even one cookie baking marathon, I felt it was quite appropriate to treat myself to an indulgence of a different sort by kicking off the new year with a fourteen day juice cleanse. I've done such a cleanse several times before, and I knew that the mind and complexion clearing benefits would be very (very) welcome at the start of the spring semester.

In preparation for this endeavor, I omitted dairy and grains from my diet and included even more steamed veggies and salads about five days prior to when I knew I would be beginning the cleanse. This little change makes it a lot easier for the body to transition to an all-juice regime, but it's not crucial. Cold turkey has also worked for me in the past, especially for shorter cleanses. I also purchased a huge bottle of raw, organic apple cider vinegar. I drank two ounces diluted with warm water faithfully every morning during the cleanse, to further detoxify my system. I was able to retrieve an ancient Champion Juicer from under my mom's kitchen sink as well, to make juice at home for those days I didn't feel like going anywhere. I actually only used it maybe seven times during the entire two week period, and when I did I made a lot of juice at once and kept it in a big jar on hand for the day. Otherwise, I fulfilled all my juicy needs at JuiceLand on Lake Austin Boulevard and on Barton Springs road.

So how much and what kind of juice did I drink, exactly? I drank a lot. Like really, I didn't hold back at all. I drank juice whenever I was hungry. Generally I started my day with twenty four ounces or more of a fruit based juice, although I almost always tried to mix in a little green and maybe some ginger. Citrus, apple, and pineapple are all good morning candidates for me, since they provide more calories for energy to fuel my day. My midday juices were usually carrot and coconut water based drinks, with lots of organic greens, beet and maybe even cayenne pepper or tumeric. Later on in the day, I would drink celery based green veggie juices mixed with spirulina, chlorella, or E3 Live. Deep green drinks are extraordinarily alkalizing and nourishing and promise a deep restful sleep. I also took colon cleansing herbs at night, and drank green tea throughout the day.

My overall experience? Farewell to post-holiday bloat, candida and skin bumps, and hello to well-being. I feel absolutely amazing as a result of this cleanse. Some days during the two weeks I did rest a lot, especially in the beginning, and I definitely took long naps whenever I felt tired from the detoxifying process. Other days I had oodles of energy and I went for long runs and did yoga and chattered my boyfriends ear off about how great life is. Juice cleansing really boosts my mood and balances my emotions, gives my physical body a healing sort of retreat from it's usual rigors, and gets me back in tune with my relationship with food. It's like reminding myself what really makes me feel good, and I find myself making healthier choices as a result. My digestion is better, my eyes are brighter, and I feel renewed. I've been easing back into my normal eating routine over the course of a week, choosing smoothies, fresh fruits and raw veggies for my first few days of solid meals. This is what has kept me feeling tip-top and it supports all the healing benefits of the cleanse.

Don't know how anybody does this for an extended period, i just felt empty inside for 3 days before i ate a bunch of chocolate chip cookies. I felt like that was as long as i could go, even though i have seen others do 14 days and feeling fine. they told me that i didn't stick it out long enough to feel the effects, but i felt like the challenge of not eating for 3 days was enough so i stopped. i remember my tongue was incredibly weird through day 2 and 3, filmy and greenish. generally very uncomfortable.
